Determining Firebrand Generation Rate Using Physics-Based Modelling from Experimental Studies through Inverse Analysis

چکیده

Firebrand spotting is a potential threat to people and infrastructure, which difficult predict becomes more significant when the size of fire intensity increases. To conduct realistic physics-based modeling with firebrand transport, generation data such as numbers, size, shape firebrands are needed. Broadly, depends on atmospheric conditions, wind velocity vegetation species. However, there no experimental study that has considered all these factors although they available separately in some studies. Moreover, studies have collection data, not data. In this study, we conducted series simulations trial-and-error basis reproduce called an inverse analysis. Once was determined from simulation, applied interpolation technique calibrate effects velocity, relative humidity, First, simulated Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) tree-burning quantified against tree burning experiment at National Institute Standards Technology (NIST). Then, same prescribed forest Pinelands Reserve (PNR) New Jersey, USA. The were fuel load, temperature, ensure field conditions replicated experiments. rate found be 3.22 pcs/MW/s (pcs-number pieces) single 4.18 model. This finding complemented wind, type, moisture content quantify rate.

Modelling firebrand transport in wildfires using HIGRAD/FIRETEC

Firebrand transport is studied for disc and cylindrical firebrands by modelling their trajectories with a coupled-physics fire model, HIGRAD/FIRETEC. Through HIGRAD/FIRETEC simulations, the size of possible firebrands and travelled distances are analysed to assess spot ignition hazard. Trajectories modelled with and without the assumption that the firebrands’ relative velocities always equal th...

the effectiveness of strategy-based instruction in teaching english as a second or foreign language: a meta-analysis of experimental studies

a large number of single research studies on the effects of strategy-based instruction (sbi) in teaching english as a foreign or second language has been conducted so far. however, the lack of a comprehensive meta-analysis targeting the effectiveness of english language sbi is observed. moreover, the findings of experimental studies regarding the context of the english language, proficiency lev...

A dimensional analysis on firebrand penetration through a mesh screen.

A dimensional analysis on firebrand penetration through a mesh screen was carried out to correlate the experimental data previously reported in the literature. Three dimensionless variables, one dimensionless time and two dimensionless lengths, were obtained. The resulting dimensionless parameters correlated the data well and may provide a useful framework to assess firebrand penetration throug...

Experimental Analysis of Pheromone-Based Heuristic Column Generation Using irace

Pheromone-based heuristic column generation (ACO-HCG) is a hybrid algorithm that combines ant colony optimization and a MIP solver to tackle vehicle routing problems (VRP) with black-box feasibility. Traditionally, the experimental analysis of such a complex algorithm has been carried out manually by trial and error. Moreover, a full-factorial statistical analysis is infeasible due to the large...
